General considerations for scoring
Ratings should reflect the person’s actual performance, meaning . . .
Not what they should be able to do Not a simulated activity
Not what the rater suspects the level of function is for the person
Ratings are based on most dependent episode during the period for which the rating is assessed
Admit = 72 hours
Daily= 24 hours
Discharge = 24 hours
It is preferable to rate observed actual tasks, but is permissible to use the following
- Other professionals and paraprofessionals observations
- Report of caregiver
- Self report
If more than 1 helper is required for any reason
The rating is always a 1
