Q

Describe the process of filtration

A

Firstly, set up your beaker and make sure your filter funnel is sitting inside with the filtration paper lining the funnel. Next, pour the mixture you want to seperate into the funnel. The liquid should pass through the pores in the paper and the insoluble solid should be trapped

Q

Describe the process of crystallisation

A

Firstly, an aqueous solation is poured into a beaker. It is then left out for several days until the water evaporates. By then, the aqueous solid should have crystallised and will have seperated. Heat can be applied to speed up the process, however it is important to make sure that heating doesn’t affect the chemical that is meant to crystallise
