Filter and EQ Flashcards
High Pass Filter
Allows high freq to pass while decreasing those below
Low Pass Filter
Allows low freq to pass while decreasing those above
Notch filter
Decreases a range of freq around a center freq
Bandpass Filter
Decreases all freqs above and below a set bandwidth
High shelf
Increases or decreases all freq above the selected freq
Low shelf
Increase or Decrease all freq below the selected freq
Peak filter
Boosts a range of Freq around a center Freq
What is Cut-off Freq?
The point at which the output level falls by 3 db
what are the most common Slope dB/Octave
6-12-18-24
EQ
Network of 2 or more filters to modify the frequency spectrum
Crossover
divides the freq spectrum into two or more bands
Active EQ
Amplifier circuit gives the EQ the capability to decrease or boost levels
Passive EQ
Cannot Boost levels
Parametric EQ
Allows the operator to precisely remove unwanted freq while having less impact on the tone of the audio
Graphic EQ
Allows the operator to control a specific number of freq
