Accelerated Montage
Shots cross cutting between two or more lines of action, implying a climax
360 Shot
Camera is in the center and rotates around vertical axis, revealing entire environment
American Montage
Sequence whose function is to show the passage of time
Asynchronous Sound
Sound which does not match the image in the frame
Axial Cut
Camera suddenly moves closer to or further away from it’s subject, sort of jump cut
Cant (canted angle)
Camera angle where the image is tipped to either the left or right
Cast Light
Light which originates from a physical source
Circular Shot
A shot where the camera circumscribes 360 line around a centered character/object
Composition
The arrangement of people/objects in a frame
Compression of Time
Reducing a substantial period of time into a very brief reel-time period, (editing techniques)
Crosscut
Two or more lines of action are cut alternately between those lines of action, in order to create the perception of simultaneous action
Diegetic Sound
Sound which is in the world of the narrative
Dutch Angle
Camera angle where the camera is off level, tilted forward or backward and left or right
Expansion of Time
Making a real-time moment extend the amount of time beyond what it would actually take (repeated shots, shots from several different positions, or slow-mo)
Jump Cut
Creates a temporal discontinuity of action by leaving out a few several frames from a single action
