What is High Angle
The camera is angled down at the subject. Makes the subject appear weak or helpless.
Low Angle
Angled up at the the subject. Makes the subject look powerful and magnificent.
Eye Level
The camera is held at eye level to show equality between all characters.
Close Up
Zooms in close to the subject. Zooms in on face, back, hands, etc.
Medium Shots
Shows two or more characters in dialogue. The bit of background provides context for the viewer.
Long Shots
Far from subject. Establishes mood, makes subject look small or weak.
Pan
side to side movement to establish context
Tracking
Follows the subject scene to scene.
Dollying
Moves toward and away from the subject. Creates affect that its the subjects eyes.
zoom
Goes close or further away from the subject.
Tilt
Camera tilts up or down.
Hand-Held
Camera doesn’t move as smooth.
Cut
change from one shot to the next
dissolve
shot dissolves into another
fade-in
shot fades in
