What is meant by an independent film?

A

A film made outside of the commercial mainstream and
outside of the financial and artistic control of a large film company. A film which is privately conceived and funded or is made by a smaller film company on a low budget.

A

A process whereby one company acquires another involved at a different level of the industry. For example, a production company that owns a distributor.
