Horizontal Integration
When a media conglomerate includes different companies that produce and sell similar products, usually resulting from mergers
Vertical Integration
Companies that own all or most of the chain of production and distribution for a product
Independent film
A film made outside the control of a large mainstream film company. A truly independent film will be privately conceived and funded but it mostly means that it has been made by a smaller film company on a low budget.

In 2005 after a failed attempt in the 90s by Wesley Snipes to make a film about the character. The inclusion of Wakanda was hinted at early in the MCU but the film wasn’t released until 2018
What was the Black Panther Party
A political activism group active in the 1960s until 1982, initially set up to monitor police behaviour and prevent police brutality. It was controversial and many members were killed.
How has there been a lack of diversity in the film industry
Superhero films mostly feature non-white characters as sidekicks or secondary characters, exceptions being Wesley Snipes’ Blade in the 90s.
Black cinema traditionally consists of ‘arthouse’/‘prestige’ films or issues-based social realism.
Many black actors do not get nominated for or receive awards (#oscarssowhite).
Africa is typically portrayed as developing and underprivileged, focussing on famine, civil wars and terrorism.
