- What is the one serious limitation to calculations?
You can’t CHANGE their values.
- What is the solution to NOT being able to change the value of a calculation?
AUTO ENTER CALCULATIONS
- Where do you enter an AUTO ENTER CALCULATION?
Since it is an AUTO ENTER option, you would choose it in the AUTO ENTER page of the “Options for Field” dialog box.
- What is the benefit of entering the calculation into the Auto Enter section of the Options for Field?
The AUTO ENTER calc automatically fills in a field’s value, but LEAVES IT CHANGEABLE.
- When you enter a calc in the Calculated Value box, you’re NOT creating a calculation field, you are:
specifying the calculation to be used to determine the Auto Enter value.
- Auto Enter Calculation fields don’t act exactly like other calc fields. If a DUE DATE is based on an INVOICE DATE, and the INVOICE DATE changes, then:
the DUE DATE does not update to reflect the change, IT KEEPS ITS ORIGINAL VALUE.
- Once an Auto Enter calculation field gets a value, the calculation changes every time:
NEVER. The calc acts only when the field is empty.
- How do you modify the Auto Enter calc so that the calc changes every time the field is updated (like a normal calc)?
TURN OFF the “Do not replace existing value of field (if any)” checkbox in the Field Options Dialog Box.
- When would you want to turn off the “Do not replace existing value of field (if any)” checkbox?
You would choose this if, say, you want the Due Date to change every time you update the Invoice Date.
