adjectives
put the adjective in the sentence in the correct form:
It’s a snake.
(poisonous)
It’s a poisonous snake.
rule: adjectives always come before the nouns they describe and after the article (if there is an article)
put the adjective in the sentence in the correct form:
They’re (powerful) people.
They’re powerful people.
(also: They are powerful people.)
adjectives do not change form even if the noun they describe is plural.
put the adjective in the sentence in the correct form:
I’m than my brother.
(old)
I’m older than my brother.
rule: regular comparative adjectives are formed by adding ‘-er’ and are followed by ‘than’.
*note that spelling changes learned in A2 level grammar study may apply
make a comparative sentence:
the cost of Rome = the cost of Paris
Rome is as expensive as Paris
comparison of equality structure: A ‘as + adjective + as’ B
A = B
make a comparison using a different grammar structure:
Tokyo is more expensive than Rome.
Rome isn’t as expensive as Tokyo.
comparison of inequality structure: A ‘not as adjective as’ B
B is more adjective than A
