An inscription on a building,statue or coin it can be a short quotation at the beginning of a book or chapter intended to suggest its theme

It is a brief pointed statement that contains humor or irony
Epigram
A part is used for a whole or a whole is used for a part
Synecdoche
Something associated with the object represents the object
Metonymy
An imitation or mimicry of the style of a particular writer.artist.or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect
Parody
Puts together two words that contradict each other
Oxymoron
A seemingly absurd or contradictory statement which is analysed and found true
Paradox
A play on words which are alike in sound but different in meaning
Pun
Saying something but mean another with the purpose of hurting,insulting and humiliating
Sarcasm
Saying one thing but mean another
Irony
When an inanimate object or dead person is addressed as though it were human
Apostrophe
