What is an anaphora ?
Repetition of a word or a group of words in the beggining of several sentences.
What is a cataphora ?
The use of a pronoun before the thing or the person it is refered to. Gives an impression of repetition.
What is a polyptoton ?
Figure of repetition based on the use of a word in different grammatical forms.
What is a alliteratation ?
Repetition of a consonant sound.
What is an assonance ?
Repetition of a vowel sound.
What is an oxymoron ?
Two words of opposite senses linked together. (the words need to be next to eachothers)
What is an antiphrasis ?
Use of a word when we actually mean the opposite (irony)
What is an antithesis ?
Two opposite concepts linked together.
What is a chiasmus ?
Figure that consists in crossing two structures. (AB/BA)
What is an allegory ?
Symbolic representation
What is a metonymy ?
The use of a term to represent a whole idea
What is an epanorthosis ?
Correction of an affirmation because it is not striking enough.
What is a preterition ?
Enlighting something by saying we are not going to talk about it.
What is a litote ?
Easing the expression of one thoughts.
What is an euphemism ?
Easing the expression of one thoughts because it is too shocking.
