Guarantee Credit Examples:

Example 1: Weekly income of £125 and £11.2k in savings
E..g person has weekly income of £125 and £11.2k savings

Example 2: Kieran, who is single, was born in January 1952. He is not entitled to a full state pension. He receives annual income of £2,240 from an annuity, together with a state pension of £98.12 per week. Kieran has £12,200 in savings.

Example 1: Weekly income of £125 and £11.2k savings.
Income of £125 + (£3 per week notional income from savings) means GC is £39.75 (£167.25 - £128).

Example 2: £141.20 weekly income + £5 tariff income = £146.20. So £167.25 - £146.20 = £21.05.

Pension Credit - Savings Credit

Qualifying age?

Provides how much income within thresholds and after thresholds?

A

Qualifying age: Those who reached SPA before 6 April 2016 but not for those after.

Qualifying income thresholds:
Lower - £144.38 singles £229.67 for couples.
Upper - Guarantee Credit

Provides income of 60p for every £1 between threshold. Within threshold maximum is £13.72.
Over guarantee credit threshold - savings credit reduced by 40p for every £1 of excess. If income exceeds £201.55 then savings credit reduced to Nil.
