Comparing two unlike things using like or as.
Hyperbole
Over-exaggeration.
Oxymoron
Putting together two different words to create new meanings.
Personification
Giving non-human things human qualities.
Pun
Joke explaining different word meanings, humorous.
Euphemism
Mild words used instead of harsh words to “soften the blow”.
Imagery
Descriptive language appealing to readers’ senses.
Symbolism
The use of items as symbols to represent ideas or qualities.
