What are pathogens?
Is an micro-organism that causes disease. Can enter the human body in many ways.
How can pathogens enter the body?
They enter the body via saliva, nose, damaged skin, ears, reproductive system and eyes.
What are the two main types of pathogens?
Viruses and bacteria
What are viruses?
They are even smaller. It finds body cells and injects body cells with DNA and it replicates it. Eventually it bursts finally it invades other cells
Ways in which pathogens are spread?
Water, sneezing, kissing, poor hygiene, contact with body and things like mosquitoes.
What are white blood cells?
They fight disease and engulfs pathogens.
What do white blood cells produce?
They produce anti toxins which cancels out toxins/poisons.
What engulfs pathogens?
Phagocytes
what creates antibodies?
lymphocytes
What is a vaccination?
Injected with weak/dead/inactive form of a pathogen.
What is an MMR vaccine
Measles, mumps, and Rubella.
What is a petri dish?
Is a culture medium which contains carbohydrates, minerals, proteins and vitamins they need to grow.
