Plot
Sequence of Events where one affects the next one with cause & effects.
Climax/Turning Point
The event that is unexpected to a reader (book) or viewer (movie)
Exposition
A description or explanation to a book, movie, idea, theory (etc.)
Resolution
The action of solving a problem or dispute
Internal Conflict
An internal conflict is the struggle occurring within a character’s mind.
External Conflict
External conflict is a struggle that takes place between the main character and some outside force.
Direct Characterization
Direct characterization is indicating what a character is like by directly stating their personality traits.
Indirect Characterization
Indirect characterization is a method of indicating what a character is like by revealing their personality through descriptions of their actions with other characters.
Imagery/Sensory Language
Imagery is language that appeals to the senses. Sensory language is the words writers use to create images.
Text Structures
Text structure refers to how the information within a written text is organized.
Description
Capturing an event through descriptive writing involves paying close attention to the details by using all of your five senses.
Advantage/Disadvantage
Advantage: A condition or circumstance that puts one in a favorable or superior position.
Disadvantage: An unfavorable circumstance or condition that reduces the chances of success or effectiveness.
Sequence/Order of Events
A sequence of events or things is a number of events or things that come one after another in a particular order.
Classification
The action or process of classifying something according to shared qualities or characteristics.
Author’s Purpose
His/Her/Their reason for or intent in writing.
