Pathogenesis of fibromyalgia

A
  • It can induced by deliberate sleep deprivation > sleep disturbance is the most common trigger
  • reduced REM sleep + delta wave sleep in EEG
  • causes hyper activation in response to noxious stimulation + neural activation in brain regions associated with pain perception

  • no physical abnormalities to examination to MSK or neurological systems
