Definition of Subplot
A smaller story inside of the main story
Ex: Miss Kinianna and Charlie relationship
Definition of Expostion
The part of the plot that gives information about the characters and their problems or conflicts: the beginning
Ex: Charlie Gordon not being smart and wanting to be smart
Climax
The turning point in the story where the final outcome is decided one way or another
Ex:When Charlie decides to do the operation
Resolution
The final part of the story where the final conflict is resolved and the story is brought to a close
Ex: When charlie decides to leave New York for a fresh start and that Charlie loses his intelligence
Internal conflict
The struggle which takes place within a character’s own mind. A struggle between opposing needs desire, or emotion ( PERSON VS. SELF)
Ex: when Charlie is struggling with his learning disabilities in thebeginning and then at the end when he loses it
External Conflict
The struggle with an outside force which may be another character (person vs. person) society ( person vs. society) a natural force ( person vs. nature) or fate (person vs. fate)
Foreshadowing
The uses of clues or hints to suggest event that will occur later in the story
Ex:WHEN Dr. Nemur and Dr. Strauss told Charlie that the operation will probably last only temporarily

Repeated elements of the plot
ex:Charlie getting drunk at the bar
