What does fever indicate
A
Underlying infection

Those that present with a fever need to Have:
A
- Full blood count
- blood cultures
- C reactive protein
- Urine testing for urinary tract infection
- Chest X-ray only if respiratory signs are present
- Stool culture (if diarrhoea)

What is sepsis
A
Life-threatening emergency that happens when your body responds to an infection causing organ dysfunction

Signs and symptoms of septic shock
A
Temp above 38/ Below 36
(check 3 times in a 10 min period)
IWOB/Grunting/Struggling to speak
High RR
High HR
Not feeding/drinking
Black/green/bloody vomit
Sunken fontanelles
Sunken eyes

Sepsis 6 Pathway
A
- Adminster O2
- Take bood and blood cultures
- Give IV antibioitics
- Give IV fluids
- Check lactate (less than 2mmol needed)
- Measure urine output
