A

Chronic inflammation of the intestinal tract. Likely related to dysregulation of mucosal immune function. (Chron’s Disease: mouth to anus, Ulcerative Colitis: primary colon and rectum)

A

usually chronic (may be acute), diarrhea & abdominal pain, (Ulcerative colitis: rectal bleeding, tenesmus, fever, anorexia, weight loss), (Crohn’s: RLQ ileocolitis or mass, fever, weight loss, perianal pain, incontinence, extra- GI symptoms (arthritis, depression))

A

+/- fever & tachycardia, weight loss, abdominal tenderness (RLQ mass = Crohn’s), perirectal abscess/perianal fistula (Crohn’s), Tender rectal exam (both), +/- extra-GI signs (Crohn’s)
