The first state was established by the Yamato clan in the fourth century BCE

In the eighth century CE, emperors gave their land to their extended family, the system was later abandoned because they gave away too much land to too many people.
how did the nobles grow in power at this time?
Peasants kept on paying taxes as well as working the land that the nobles owned.
how has the artist in Amaterasu tried to show the power and importance of the sun goddess Amaterasu to the people around her?
The artist captured the power and importance of amarterasu, the sun goddess by making the lower class kneel down and praise her. The sun rays behind her symbolises that she is one with the sun.
how can you tell that Buddhism had become an important religion in Japan by the eighth century ce?
It shows that bhudda is important to the Japanese because they made a 15 metre statue. In 1751 resources were scarce, so sacrificing metals show that it meant a lot.
how was oda Nobunaga able to rise to importance in Japan after 1565?
Oda Nobunga was now a powerful man as he used Yoshiteru’s brother Yoshaki to make decisions and rise to power, not being a shougan meant he didn’t face the consequences of rash decisions.
Do you believe oda would have been a popular leader?
Oda Nobunga would not have been a popular leader because he executed Buddhist opposition, this is bad because most of Japan’s people at the were Buddhist.
What actions did hideyoshi take to restore traditional Japanese religious practices?
Toyotomi Hideyoshi restored Buddhism to Japan by getting rid of European Christian monasteries.

Oda armies conquered 7 rival armies

European Christian Monasteries opposed Hideyoshi trying to restore Buddhism in Japan.
Why was opposition from the shimazu clan probably not very signifcant?
The Shiamzu clan were not significant opposition because they lived remotely south of the main island.

Why were Japanese emperors so dependent on regents during the period from 1180 to 1185?
They were either too young or too ill to rule. Since sickness was common they were regularly used, the same thing applied to age, their fathers would die very young
