Fertilisation to Trilaminar Flashcards
Where does fertilisation take place?
ampulla
What are the first 2 steps of fertilisation?
Sperm binds to zona pellucida glycoprotein
Sperm releases acrosomal enzymes which allows it to digest into egg
What are the 3rd and 4th steps of fertilisation?
Egg and Sperm plasma membrane fuse and sperm enters egg
This triggers completion of meiosis 2 and granule release
What is cleavage?
series mitotic divisions of blastocyst
What is compaction?
cells move closer together in bona pellucida and gap junctions form
Where should implantation occur?
middle or upper dorsal uterine wall
What is implantation driven by?
trophoblast
When is implantation complete by?
day 9
What is the fate of the ectoderm?
skin and nervous
What is the fate of the mesoderm
paraxial, intermediate or lateral plate
What is the fate of the endoderm?
lining gut, resp, bladder, urethra
What is paraxial?
axial skeleton. Voluntary muscle
What is the intermediate?
urogenital
What is the lateral plate?
Somatic - lining body wall
Visceral - CV system, smooth muscle
