What is fermentation?

A

Fermentation is a metabolic process in which microorganisms, like yeast or bacteria, convert carbohydrates (such as sugars and starches) into alcohol or acids under anaerobic conditions (without oxygen). This process is widely used in the production of alcoholic beverages, bread, and yogurt, as well as in various industrial applications.

Wine - Made from fermented grapes.Beer - Made from fermented barley, hops, water, and yeast.Sake - Made from fermented rice. Mead Mead is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting honey with water. It can be flavored with various fruits, spices, grains, or hops, and its alcohol content typically ranges from about 8% to 20% ABV. Mead is one of the oldest known alcoholic drinks, often referred to as “honey wine.”
