women are weaker and that their reproductive functions + ability to bear children make them unable or unfit for life outside the home
women are biologically programmed to want children and more suited to care for them therefore being largely confined to the private sphere

differences between male and female are culturally shaped from infancy so women may have physical strengths but are taught to be inactivate
different values are placed on traditional feminine
social inequalities are factual realities that cannot be explained
