Corpus
- The main body of the uterus
- The opening right above the vagina is called the cervix
Endometrium
- The uterine lining
- Consists of blood and mucus
- Sheds when not pregnant
Egg/Ovum
- Female reproductive cell
- Developed in the ovary
- Fertilized in the fallopian tube
- Implants in the uterine wall (successful pregnancy)
Ovary
- develops and releases egg each month
- small oval gland located at the end of the fallopian tube
- Produces sex hormones (Estrogen and Progesterone)
Fallopian Tube
- Fertilization occurs here
- Narrow tube attached to ovary and upper part of the uterus
Cervix
- “Neck of the womb”
- Lower part of the uterus that connects to the uppermost portion of the vagina
- Closes during pregnancy until birth
Vagina
- Below the cervix
- pathway for menstrual flow
- also known as the birth canal
- Joins the cervix to the outside of the body.
Labia Mijora
- External female genitalia also called the vulva
Contains the opening to the urethra, serving as a vital component to passing urine
Clitoris
- Highly sensitive area
- can become erect labia minoria meet at this point
Bladder
Stores Urine

Tubbed pathway that transports urine from the bladder out of the body
The opening of the urethra is located above the vaginal opening
Can see it from the outside
Labia Minora
Innermost fold of external genitalia, forms the clitoral hood

Portion of the breast anatomy that a newborn will nurse from
