Low oestradiol (major oestrogen)

What are the causes of primary amenorrhoea and infertility?
Pregnancy

Premature Ovarian Failure
What are the characteristics of secondary amenorrhoea and infertility?
Low oestriadol
Low LH and FSH
What are the causes of secondary menorrhea and infertility?
High prolactin
- produced after suckling and inhibits LH therefore post-pregnancy
Pituitary/Hypothalamic tumours
What are the characteristics of Polycystic ovary syndrome?
Excess androgen production by ovaries
What is the result of Polycystic ovary syndrome?
Hirsutism
Infertility
What affect does LH have in females?
Acts on follicles to stimulate testosterone which reduces oestrogen
What effect does FSH have in females?
Stimulates testosterone conversion to oestrogen
Works with oestrogen to mature follicles
