How hystrosalpingogram done
lie flat on your back on an x-ray table.
2-The procedure is similar to a cervical screening (smear test). We will gently insert a speculum (a smooth, tube-shaped tool) and a special catheter (a thin, plastic tube) into your cervix (neck of your womb).
3-We will then inject a contrast medium through the catheter and take some x-ray pictures as the contrast medium fills your womb and Fallopian tube
Important points abou HSG
Ask if pt had previously CT or especial X-ray or images with contrast and had any allergy to it
2- take paracetamol or ibuprofen 1 hours before procedure.
Important points on fertility
Continue to have sexual intercourse.
Take Folic Acid
Not funded by NHS
Ask about PID
Previous obstetrics history
Father had a child
Allergy to contrast medium
