A

Used in patients who unable to manage oral intake eg with impaired swallow.
Riskof misplaced tube.
Contraindicated in head injury

What the uses, risks and contraindictions for naso jejunal feeding?

A

Used int hose who can’t take food orally and avoid the risks of food pooling in the stomach and aspiration. Can be used after oesophageal surgery
More complicated to insert than an NG tube (needs surgery)

What the uses, risks and contraindictions for a feeding jejunostomy?

A

This is a surgically sited feeding tube used for long term feeding (eg kids with severe crohn’s)
Risks are of tube displacement, leakage and peritonitis

A

Patients who cannot take enteral feeding.
Administered via a central vein.
Long term use in associated with fatty liver and deranged LFTs.
