- Given 200 hours of Dual
- Held their Instrucotr Certificate for at Least 24 Calendar Months
or for UND (An FAA approved Training Course)
- Trained an endorsed 5 applicants with an 80% pass rate
- Given at least 400 hours Dual
How do you renew your flight instructor certificate?
- Passing a practical test
- Obtaining another flight instructor certificate
- Submit a record to the FAA showing that within the past 24 calendar months that the CFI has endorsed at least 5 students for a pracitcal test for a certificate or rating and at least 80% of those students pass
- Submit a record to the FAA showing that within the past 24 calendar months the fligh instructor has served as a company check pilot, or be in a position to regularly evaluate pilots.
- A graduation certificate showing that within the previous 3 calendar months that person has succesfully completed an approved flight instructor refresher course, consisting of ground, or flight, or both instruction.
If your CFI certificate expires can you complete a requirement under 61.197 to satisfactorily reinstate or certificate?
No, you have to either
- Pass a flight instructor practical test for, ONE of the ratings held on that expired certificate which refreshes all of them.
- Pass a flight instructor practical test for an additional rating.
Does obtaining a CFII refresh your instructor certificate?
Yes your 24 calendar months to become recurrent start all over.
What Flight Instrucotr Records is a CFI Required to keep?
- Must sign the logbook of each person to whom training is given
- Must maintain a seperate “logbook” for solo endorsements given and date. Also the name of each person the instrucotr has endorsed for a knowledge test or practical test, the record will also note the result of the test, the kind of test, and the date.
Does Google Docs work for the Requirements of Section 61.189 in regards to records that must be kept for 3 years?

What are the hour requirements for a Private Pilot Certificate? 61.109
- 40 Hours of flight time to include 20 hours of flight training from an authroized instructor, and 10 hours of solo flight training.
- 3 hours of cross country flight training and
- 3 hours of night flight training
- One cross country over 100 NM
- 3 hours reference to instrument training
- 10 hours of solo time to include at least 5 solo cross country
- Solo cross country with at least 150 miles and a straight line distance of more than 50 NM between two points
How old do you have to be to obtain a student pilot certificate? 61.83
16 Years of age.

Yes you may, a student pilot certificate grants solo privleges.
How old must you be before you can get a Private Pilots License?
You must be at least 17 years of age.
How long is an initial solo endorsement good for?
90 Days
How long is an airport endorsement good for?
Forever.
