What is Federal Parole?
Parolees are federal prisoners conditionally released before their warrant expiry date after review by the Parole Board of Canada.
Parole usually starts with temporary absences, then day parole, followed by full parole.
Warrant Expiry Date
The date on which a sentence is complete, ending correctional jurisdiction.
Statutory Release
Eligible after serving two-thirds of a sentence unless designated as dangerous.
Day Parole
Daytime release with return to a facility at night.
Temporary Absences
Escorted or unescorted leave from the facility for various reasons (family, education, medical).
Full Parole
Complete release under supervision in the community.
