fe cards Flashcards
Ace Equation
(NIA-NIS)-10xBx (FS-FA)-IME
CPS 1- control performance standard
must be 100% or greater- distribution of all BAs Ace in an Interconnection and based on expected freqency performance within the indiviual interconnection. Statistical measure of ace variability. Measures ace in combonation with frequency error
CPS 2- control performance standard
90% or greater- limits the magnitude of the impact at a BA places on the transmission resources in its interconnection. Designed to limit the BA’s unscheduled Power Flows. To protect the tie lines.
CPS 1 - control performance standard
can be viewed as a measure of whether a BA is maintaining enough Regulating Reserves
CPS 2 control performance standard
can be viewed as whether a BA is maintaining enough operating reserves
DCS control performance
measure a BA or RSG is maintaning enough Contingency Reserves
CPS 1 & CPS 2
report compliance to Nerc on monthly basis & must be in compliance with the CPS during both normal and disturbance conditions
DCS
You can report compliance to the DCS as a BA or RSG.
DCS
Entities must be able to recover from their single most severe contigency.
DCS
A BA is responsible for recovering from a reportable disturbance within 15 minutes and contingency reserves must be back in 90 minutes. unless combined magnitude is greater than single most severe contingency.
DCS
REPORTED TO NERC QUARTLEY - 4X A YEAR
FREQUENCY
60HZ
BIAS
SHALL BE SET CLOSE TO BA’S FREQUENCY RESPONSE CHARACTERISTIC
WECC
OPERATES IN BIAS TIE LINE MODE
BIAS
REVIEWED ONCE A YEAR - SET AT 1% OF ESTIMATED PEAK LOAD OR 1% OF ESTIMATED GENERATION LOAD
NAESB STANDARD
MANUAL TIME ERROR CORRECTION - ONE TIME MONITOR PER INTERCONNECTION- THE RC ACTS AS THE MONITOR.
FREQUENCY
SCHEDULED FREQUENCY IS THE TARGET OR DESIRED FREQUENCY
AUTOMATIC GENERATION CONTROL-AGC
EQUIPMENT THAT AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST GENERATION IN A BA AREA FROM A LOCATION TO MAINTAIN THE BA’S FREQUENCY- USE MANUAL IF IT BECOMES IN-OPERATIVE
SCHEDULED FREQUENCY
59.98, 60.00 or 60.02
ace
should be at zero
ace
if BA is unable to calculate ace for more than 30 minutes notify RC. data scan every 6 seconds.
metering errors
lead to inadvertent
inadvertent interchange
paid back during peak - 0700 to 2200
eastern - central, ercot 0800-2200 & western 0700-2200 pacific.
inadvertents
are calculated and recorded every hour
ba’s
submit montly summary report of inadvertants, by the 15th calandar day of the following month to the RRO REP then it is submitted by rro to nerc by the 22nd calander day. if a ba does not report by the 20th day of the month they are non complaint.
