• Huey Long: 7.5 million supporters in 1935, presidential ambitions, suggested to limit personal wealth to $3 million. 1935,assassinated
• Dr Francis Townsend & ‘Townsend Clubs’ campaigned for pensions of $200 per month for over-60s
Unemployment not solved by new deal but by ww2
1933: unemployment stood at approx 14 million, 25% of the workforce.
By the end of 1941, when America entered WWII, it had fallen to 6 million (still high)
under 5% by 1942 due to WW2
Despite FDR efforts, never fell under 5M/14%

FDR tried to appoint 6 more judges to supreme court (constitution change)
