Q

SFVR minimums:

Day: 300 ft ceiling and 1/2 mile visibility
Night: 500 ft ceiling and one mile visibility

17
Q

BAAF traffic pattern altitude:

A

6,600 MSL

18
Q

When do unaided vs aided aircraft have priority in traffic pattern?

A

Unaided Army aircraft have priority use of closed traffic beginning at official sunset until one (1) hour after official sunset.

From one (1) hour after official sunset, until official sunrise, aided aircraft have priority use of closed traffic.

19
Q

Converging traffic at same altitude, who has right of way?

What should each aircraft do?

A

The aircraft to the right has the right-of-way.

Each aircraft alters course to the right when approaching head on or nearly so.

An aircraft in distress has the right-of-way.

20
Q

How many aircraft are allowed in each training area (North NOE Area, Confined Area, and Horseshoe Training Area)?

A

Day: 2
Night: 1
Multi ship: 4 (only 1 multi ship operation in each TA)

21
Q

Who has procedural control of training areas (North NOE Area, Confined Area, and Horseshoe Training Area) when BAAF tower is closed?

A

Each PC ensures collision avoidance and procedural control

22
Q

What do the different range status’ mean (CLOSED, COLD, HOT)?

A

CLOSED - The range is not occupied and the range danger fan is not active.

COLD - The range is occupied and activities; such as, range preparation, bore sighting, and Dry Fire Operations are in progress. Permission to penetrate a range fan is required from Butts Radio.

HOT - The range is occupied and hazards to non-participating aircraft exist. The range danger fan is active. Permission to penetrate the range fan is required from the using unit.

23
Q

Altitude and distance below gun target line that overlaps range corridor:

A

Below 50 ft and no closer than 1,000 meters to firing point

24
Q

How many aircraft are allowed in each air training area (T1-T7)?

A

Day: 4
Night: 2
Multi ship: 8 (day or night)

25
Q

How often must you you contact Butts Radio?

A

Render position reports every 20 minutes or as directed by Butts Radio.
During night operations maintain radio contact on the published Butts Radio FM frequency.

Butts Radio will initiate overdue aircraft procedures 30 minutes after a position report has not been received and contact with the aircraft cannot be established.

26
Q

Red Devil traffic pattern altitude:

A

200 AGL (East traffic only)

Night closed traffic maximum 4 aircraft

27
Q

Where will you enter Red Devil closed traffic from?

A

ACP Snake from the north

ACP Sawtooth from the south

28
Q

Minimum distance between operating aircraft (rotors turning) and refueling vehicles:

A

50 ft

29
Q

Dimensions of the range corridor:

A

Surface to 500 ft AGL, and 200 meters wide (100 meters either side of centerline)

Day/Night aided: Fly surface to 400 AGL

30
Q

Aircraft lighting during night/IFR BAAF ground operations and in BAAF Class D airspace:

A

Position lights steady bright

Anti collision lights on

31
Q

Minimum lighting for formation flights in BAAF Class D Airspace, the range, or Airburst Corridor:

A

Trail aircraft - anti-collision lights on and position lights steady bright.

Other aircraft in the formation - position lights steady dim.

32
Q

On the range, when may all aircraft lighting be turned off?

A

When in a numbered training area if no other aircraft are in the TA

33
Q

Max altitude in test flight area:

A

8,500 MSL (T1, T2)
7,500 MSL (T4)
Clearance to climb above this is required from Colorado Springs Approach Control

1,000 AGL min

34
Q

When are cold weather kits required?

A

All flights
