an incorrect proposition that forms the basis of an argument or syllogism
ex. “If the streets are wet, it must have rained recently”
false premise
a question containing an implicit assumtion that is unverified or controversial
ex. “Are you going to vote for that incompetent candicate!?”
loaded question
when evidence merely says that the reasoning is because others do/like it; no solid evidence
ex. “If everyone;s doing it, you should too!”
bandwagon
a true statement that is phrased in such a way to wither cast doublt on its truth, or convey the writer’s biases
slanted facts
words that contain strong connations likely to produce an emotional response
ex. “Pro-abortion” and “Anti-choice”
charged words/loaded language
