Saturated fats and unsaturated fats
What do saturated fats contain?
They contain cholesterol (fat found in the blood). Sat fat typically found in animal sources.
What do unsaturated fats contain?
Unsaturated fats does not contain cholesterol. Plant, vegetable and oily fish sources.
What is omega?
Type of unsaturated fat found in oily fish, nuts, seeds
What is the function of omega?
Important for brain development and help to lower cholesterol levels in the blood.
What is an example of saturated fats?
Cheese,chocolate,fatty meats
What are examples of unsaturated fats?
Avocado,peanut butter,nuts
If you Overconsumption fat what health problems can it lead to?
Obesity: can lead to weight gain and obesity. Fats are high in kilocalories.
CHD (coronary Heart disease)- too much cholesterol in the blood causes it to stick to artery walls. This causes pressure on the blood to pass through the arteries causing the heart to work harder. Leading to a risk of heart attacks, high blood pressure.
