Fantom Flashcards
Fantom
a DAG that uses an aBFT consensus mechanism. Smart-contracts are written in Solidity and are 100% compatible with Ethereum and other DLTs that use EVM..
aBFT stands for
Asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerance
State machine replication
A technique that enables many computers to behave as one
Lachesis
an open-source software component intended for developers who want to build peer-to-peer (p2p) applications, mobile or other, without having to implement their own p2p networking layer from scratch.
Under the hood, it enables many computers to behave as one; a technique known as state machine replication.
Byzantine
A node is said to be Byzantine if it is malicious
Lachesis signatures are based on
Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm secp256k1 curve

AVAX vs Fantom
“1) AVAX is a great product and based on a DAG like Fantom. I was considering investing in both when I first set out. The reason I chose fantom was that 2) FTM has faster and 3) cheaper transactions and that the 4) Fantom Foundation isn’t interested in hyping their chain. 5) AVAX is highly Venture Capital Backed and small retail investors like us didn’t have a chance to buy in really early. 6) AVAX is already really highly valued at 10b marketcap with only 7) 1/3 of the tokens are released. That means the fully diluted MCAP of AVAX is 35b. Fantom is nearly at full dilution and the value you see is the value that it is. 8) There is much less inflation for FTM than for AVAX.” - https://www.reddit.com/r/FantomFoundation/comments/pi6987/what_are_the_differences_between_fantom_and_solana/ - aug 2021
