Who is Foucault ?
He developed the concept of surveillance. It is the process of the state keeping an eye on the individuals within society.
For functuonalistsm, surveillance is seen as part of a desirable process of ensuring social stability and conformity.
For Marxists and feminists, surveillance is seen as repressive, promoting submission and conformity in an unequal society and exploitative especially for women.
