For Protection Orders, what are the 3 standard conditions to consider?
- Contact between the parties
- Violence present
- Weapons availability
In regards to surrendering weapons for a Protection Order (P.O), what time limits apply?
Ideally immediately, but definitely within 24 hours.
What are the names given to the two people involved in a P.O?
Applicant and Respondent.
Before granting a P.O, a court must be satisfied that…..
- There was Family Harm by the Respondent
or
- The order is necessary for the protection of the Applicant and/or Child
If a Respondent breaches the P.O served on them, what must happen?
They are NOT to be released on bail by Police during the 24 hours IMMEDIATELY following their arrest.

3 months
What happens to a firearms licence during a temporary P.O and during a final P.O?
Temporary = suspended Final = revoked
When issuing a Police Safety Order (P.S.O), what are the two people on the document called?
