Define annulment
A
The process that is used to have a marriage declared invalid.

What kinds of marriages can an annulment affect?
A
A voidable marriage or a void marriage

What is a voidable marriage?
A
Valid until challenged and must be annulled in order to be dissolved. (e.g. marriage contracted by a 17 year old w/o parental consent)

What is a void marriage?
A
No legal status and do not require a legal proceeding to invalidate. (e.g. bigamous or incestuous marriages)

Who can attack a void marriage? A voidable marriage?
A
Anyone can attack a void marriage. Only the parties can challenge a voidable marriage.

How are children of an annulled marriage treated?
A
As if the marriage is valid.
