What research did Rapoport and Rapoport do and what did they identify?
They did research on family diversity and they identified 5 types of family diversity.
What is organisational diversity?
Different families have different family structures and different divisions of labour e.g. Men in a family may not cook at all.
What is cultural diversity?
It is about the different ways a family is organised and structured based on cultural/religious differences
What is social class diversity?
It is the different ways families are organised and work based on social class differences e.g. Middle class vs working class families.
What is life cycle (cohort) diversity?
Particular periods of history families pass through and its impact on families
What is family life course diversity?
It is the different stages families pass through from nuclear family to empty nest family.
