Define ‘families’
The family is an intimate domestic group of people related to one another by bonds of blood, marriage, sexual mating, adoption, or legal ties. It has been a very resilient social unit that has survived and adapted through time
Define ‘household’
A household refers either to a person living alone or a group of people who live at the same address and share living arrangements.
How do families and Households differ
Families and households differ in their structure and bonds and can be very diverse.
For example:
Families might include a lone parent, extended family, or nuclear family.
While a household might include these or groups of friends with no familial ties living in the same house or people living alone.
Do sociologists hold the same view of families? explain
Different sociological perspectives view the family through different lenses, including their purpose in society and their influence on the socialization process.
