FAM 0 questions + Old FAM 1 questions Flashcards
What is the definition of max allowable power?
The maximum power available from the engines for takeoff. Time limited to 5 minutes.
What is the definition of max continuous power?
The maximum power available from the engines not limited by time. Use of this rating is intended for emergency use at the discretion of the pilot.
What is the definition of cruise climb power?
The maximum power approved for normal climb.
What is the definition of cruise power?
The power required from the engines to maintain level flight at a desired altitude while traveling at an airspeed within the normal range approved for the aircraft. Cruise power will vary with altitude and speed.
What are the procedures for engine shutdown on deck?
- Condition lever - FUEL CUTOFF
In case of confirmed/suspected fire or fuel leak, continue checklist. If not, secure remaining engine using Secure checklist - Firewall valves - CLOSED
- Boost pumps - OFF
- Fire extinguisher - As required
- AUX BATT switch - OFF
- Gangbar - OFF
Evacuate aircraft
What is the minimum altitude for a seat change?
800 feet
What is the minimum altitude for approach to stalls?
5000 feet
What indications warrant a stall recovery?
- Stall warning horn
- Calculated stall speed
- Airframe buffet
- Uncontrollable loss of altitude
- Inability to maintain wings level/selected roll attitude.
What are the procedures for a stall recovery?
- Simultaneously
i. Power - Max allowable
ii. Nose attitude - adjust to break stall (relax backpressure to slightly lower the nose
iii. Level wings
iv. Center the ball - Flaps - Approach (unless already up). Ensure the aircraft is level or climbing with 85 KIAS or greater prior to raising the fraps to approach.
- Gear - UP
- Flaps - UP
- Airspeed - Vy (108)
What is different about recovery from approach turn stalls than other types?
There is no assigned heading for approach turn stall recovery.
What are the procedures for start malfunctions?
- Condition lever - FUEL CUTOFF (Note ITT deacrease below 790*C)
- Starter - Starter only (For the remainder of the 40 seconds)
- Starter - OFF (At 40 seconds)
What conditions warrant a waveoff in the landing pattern?
- Excessive overshoot of the runway/greater than 30* AOB required during the approach turn.
- Landing clearance has not been received by short final.
- The IP, wheels watch, Tower, or the RDO issues any verbal or visual waveoff signal.
- Any time three green lights are not visible after rolling onto final.
- Any time the PF feels an unsafe condition exists.
- Give concideration to waving off if touchdown cannot be accomplished on the first one-third of the runway.
What are the procedures for a waveoff?
- Power - As required, Establish positive rate of climb (Vx minimum)
- Flaps - Approach (unless already up)
- Gear - UP
- Flaps - UP
- Props - 1.900 rpm
At what altitude is the Sunrise transition to Cabaniss flown?
1500 feet MSL. Or 1000 feet MSL if one-in/one-out
