occurs where the defendant intentionally causes the plaintiff to be confined, restrained, or detained to a bounded area with no reasonable means of escape, of which the plaintiff is either aware or harmed.

Intent can be satisfied either by desire and purpose or with knowledge with substantial certainty. For assault, the plaintiff can intend to cause apprehension of an imminent touching or intend to make contact.
