Misuse of authority
2 types:
Biased and incomplete
Transfer (association)
Comparing self to someone you admire, hoping to transfer their qualities to you
Bandwagon
Assuming the majority is right
Misleading statistics
Presenting statistics inaccurately
Faulty generalization
Stereotypes
False cause (post hoc)
Assuming one event caused another
False analogy
Finding one or two vague similarities between two items and concluding that they are alike
Appeal to emotion
Using an emotional issue as the only support or to mislead the reader away from the issue
Red herring
Focusing attention not related to central issue (distraction)
Smear (personal attack)
Attacking the person, not the issue
Attacking the motive
