in a way that’s directed at a person rather than the position they’re maintaining

a course of action that seems to to lead inevitably from one action or result to another with unintended consequences
appeals to false authority
somebody giving advice on something without proper credentials
faulty causality
drawing the conclusion that if two things happen in quick succession then one event caused the other
straw man
irrelevant to the argument made and attacks out-of-context words, oversimplifying the argument. it exaggerates then attacks
sentimental appeal
uses emotions to win an argument rather than facts or logic
bandwagon appeals
because a large number of people are doing it you’ll do it
non-sequitur
a statement made that doesn’t logically follow what was said pervious or has no relevance
moral equivalence
mostly used in political debates to make oneself look better
equivocation
an ambiguous or deliberately evasive statement
dogmatism
a statement not backed up by evidence with the public reacting in outrage but the politician refusing to change their stance on it
faulty analogy
happens when assuming that bc two things are alike in some aspects, they’re alike in other aspects
either or choices
saying there’s only two choices when there actually more
