Supporting documentation or a written letter from the student is helpful/required. A request for a W can be requested from the past 3 years.
82
What is dual enrollment?
Dual enrollment allows highschool students to take college courses and earn college credit while still in highschool. This can help students get a headstart on college at taking them for free (public HS). This has proven to increase the chances of students pursuing college after HS.
83
What is TAG? And what are some important things to remember about TAG?
Application where students can apply to one of the 6 participating UCs (every major and campus has different requirements) (due end of Sep for fall ; end of May for spring) and if they meet the GPA requirements and complete all required courses, they would have guaranteed admission to the UC system. This can only be done from a CCC. Only one app, for one school, for one major per student.
84
Something to keep in mind about memory aids- >
The intstrucor should receive and OK a memory aid about 5 days in adavance of an exam. 99
What is the main difference between a W and an EW?
The reason behind the withdrawal
100
Explain what a withdrawal is (W)?
When a student voluntarily withdraws from a course after the drop deadline and before the withdrawal deadline. A "W" does not affect a GPA but it is still shown on a transcript. Too many W's could raise red flags for transferring or FA (academic progress) because it it could suggest academic difficulty or a lack of commitment.
101
Explain what an EW is.
A withdrawal due to extenuating circumstances. When submitting a request for this, there is a text box where students can type/describe what happened. Supporting documentation will increase the chances of success.
102
Does an EW count towards progress?
No
103
How many W/EWs are acceptable? How many could be considered a red flag?
1 or 2 is acceptable. More than two will decrease the chances
104
What is the purpose of a SAP appeal?
An appeal to the FA office explaining why FA progress or GPA requirements were not met due to extenuating circumstances. (2.0 GPA or completing 67% of attempted units)
105

Students cannot exceed 150% of required units for their program. A 60 unit associate degree must be completed within 90 attempted units.
106
What should be included when applying for a SAP appeal?
Written explanation of events, supporting documentation, and academic plan to move forward (counseling, therapy, tutoring, etc.)
107
What if a student applies for SAP appeal, and is denied?
They can still apply again, but academic progress and grades should be 2.0 GPA and 67% of units attempted should be completed.
108
What AP score is equivalent to a CCC course?
4+
109
What should students do at the beginning of their last semester of their program?
Petition to graduate
110
When should students apply to transfer?
A year before they are finished.
111
Since students should apply a year before they transfer, what about the classes they need to finish within that year?
List them on the application. If a student is accepted before completion of the program, it is considered a "conditional admission." Students will then send an official final transcript when the program is completed to confirm with the university.
112
For SURF student logins, do the SURF IDs start with a "0" or "W"?
W
113
What happens if a student takes the same course 3 times and gets 3 Ws?
Would have to COE. If failed a 4th time, MC has to count the "F" and student would have to re-take the course at another CCC.
114
How many repeats can NURS students have?
Only one repeat science course
