faith insights Flashcards
Gods love
It’s hard to feel excited about God’s love when all your religion consists of is ‘count your blessings, pay your tithes, kick the devil, and don’t skip Church.’
Moods
All your moods can be good moods, but only after you learn how to agree with God at all times. And remember, whatever gets your attention
Behaviour
Behaviourism in the Church goes by many names: legalism, moralism, discipline and authoritarianism, but none of it can heal the deep bruises of the subconscious mind.
Faith
How long can your faith survive on a diet of ‘God’ words and clichés? “Is it helpful or is it just trite?” is a good question to ask of any religious or romantic platitude.
Being foolish
Did Paul contradict Christ’s warning when he called the Galatians ‘foolish’? The literalist turns a blind eye to many such contradictions while reading the Bible.
Moods
When gaining a moody parent’s approval is rather like trying to win Lotto, how will the children learn to trust God’s consistency?
Groves
By the grooves we dig in our minds over thousands of choices, we create our own character, and this becomes the ‘place’ we must inherit for all eternity, as we create our own ‘reality’.
Perfection
Having the knowledge of perfection within us can rob us of ever feeling satisfied. When perfection is always the benchmark, dissatisfaction will be a constant companion.
Faith
Without faith, you have no answer to the deeper ‘why’s of life, and so you must ever remain the donkey chasing the delusory carrots that this life offers.
Change
When you are no longer able to change, what will God do with you, if you have not yet become what He wants?
