One of Wilsons 14 points, no appetite for disarmament, Ger forced to disarm, Fr Br and Jap needed their power, the conference was on February 1932
What were the successes
Bombing of civilians prohibited, size of tanks and artillery limited, chemical warfare prohibited, suggestions to treat Germany equally
What were the failures of the conference
No limit to making bomber planes, no actual limits set to tanks or artillery, no ban to making chemical weapons, equal treatment of Germany unsupported

They asked other countries to disarm as well but they refused and Germany left the conference

Agreed to treat Germany equally

Hitler becomes chancellor of Germany and begins to re-arm secretly

Why was disarmament a failure
Differences in desires resultes in little agreement, awareness that Hitler was disarming makes further discussion pointless

Br main defence is Royal Navy, Fr needed army to defend from possibly Ger, Ita wanted to expand, Jap expansionist
