LIGHTS: Which foglight (luces de anti-niebla) is optional, and which one can you use in “normal” fog, and which one in “intense fog”?
The front foglight is always optional (never mandatory).
The back foglight is mandatory in very dense fog, but FORBIDDEN in “normal” less dense fog
LIGHTS: When should you use the cruise light (luces de cruce o corte alcance)?
Between the setting & rising of the sun (ocaso y salida del Sol):
HOWEVER NEVER FORBIDDEN - WHEN IN DOUBT - TURN THEM ON!
1. dentro de poblado (sea insufficiente o sufficiente illuminado!) - vias urbanas y travesias.
2. Vias Interurbanas SUFFICIENTE illuminado
3. Vias Interurbanas INSUFFICIENTE illuminado solo cuando (+ luz de posicion!):
A: no se superan 40/km h (or else de LARGA alcance)
B: no se dispone de larga alcance
C: si con la luz de larga alcane se deslumbre
4. In Tunnels & SHIT - it would also be signalled then.
5. when on a carril addicional circumstancial (due to obras etc.). All vehicles in that situation (also those on the “regular” carrils) should put their lights.
When can you use Acoustic signals (Sound the horn!)
- To advert danger (in any situation, inside or outside the pueblo).
- in curves with limited visibility to announce your presence
- to announce you are going to pass OUTSIDE of urbanization.
- for vehicles on emergency service inside & outside of urbanization.
LIGHTS: When should you NOT use the “position lights”?
in all other cases you SHOULD
ONLY WHEN ESTACIONADO (parado or detenido always put lights!).
- Via Urbana sufficiente illuminada
- Via Urbana insufficiente illuminada (if not putting cars in danger)
- Travesia Sufficiente Illuminada (which is also Urbana).

What is a “carril de VAO”
“Vehiculo de Alta Ocupacion”.
Sometimes there are lanes for VAO´s only.
A VAO should have:
1. Be an “automobil”
2. Dedicated to transport people
3. MMA not more than 3500kg
4. should be occupied by number of people indicated in the sign above the lane for VAO.
Which vehicles CANNOT use the third lane on an autovia / autopista interurbana?
Those longer than 7 metres,
they can only use the right one and the one right next to that. not the others.
When can you use a “Remolque” or “Semi-Remolque”
- Las motocicletas, los vehículos de tres ruedas, los ciclomotores y los ciclos y bicicletas.
- NOT more than 50% weight of the mass of the vehicle.
- Only in daylight & with good visibility.ç
- with 10% less speed than general rules! (only in urban environment what is indicated).
- there can NEVER be people in the “Remolque”.
What is the required security distance between vehicles?
Up to 3500kg MMA: 100 metros o un intervalo mínimo de 4 segundos.
Above 3500kg MMA: 150 metros o un intervalo mínimo de seguridad de 6 segundos.
Which vehicles can use the lane that goes in opposite direction due to work on the road?
