Separately Savills has worked with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to validate near-term decarbonisation targets with as part of this, Savills being recognised by the Race to Zero and Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaigns. Savills near-term SBTi targets are:
Savills plc commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 72% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.
Savills plc also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services 51.6% per million GBP of value added by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
Savills plc further commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from investments 51.6% per square meter within the same timeframe.
What is Savills doing in relation to the UN Goals?
The UN set out Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for businesses around the world. We have aligned with 9 of the 17 UN SDGs that are the most relevant to our business, three of which come under our climate approach:
Affordable & Clean Energy: We aim to maximise energy efficiency, minimise carbon emissions and work continuously towards net zero carbon targets globally.
Climate Action: Work continuously to reduce carbon emissions and report in accordance with our Task Force for Climate Related Disclosure obligations.
Responsible Consumption and Production: We seek to reduce our environmental impacts through active operational management and responsible procurement.
What has Savills already achieved in terms of ESG?
Scope 1 and 2 ‘market-based’ Greenhouse Gas emissions had a 26.9% reduction against our 2019 base year.
We have a near-term 1.5°C-aligned carbon reduction target, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The review of our supply chains commenced, targeting reduced Scope 3 emissions.
We aligned or signed up to Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), Financial Times Stock Exchange for Good (ftse4good) Index and Race To Zero Campaign.

24,300 volunteering hours . So far this year around 300 hours. We do a nominated charity each year and we get opportunities to volunteer with them. Edinburgh children’s hospital. Target of £5k to raise. Raised half so far.

What can you do to maximise margins for you team
Fee for any Consultancy , abortive fees, cross selling (and get %), recently increased our minimum fee
What will you do differently at the next level to increase fees?
On top of focussing on strengthen my existing relationships with agents , clients and other departments and seeking new clients through networking.
We do more landlord work and we need to expand our tenant rep (in keeping with NOA targets). I will do this through Athena and targeting lease events along with seeking to working with occupier team to get more mandates.
Also I will ask my manager for more involvement in the buisness winning
What do you know about other teams performance in the office or division?
Building consultancy has done well this year at 40% profit in Scotlandand 20% of the revenue for thr UK.
Investment team is more busy
management is down a bit this year due to loosing some instructions and income. But they also have some strong clients like realty purchasing lots of retail parks.
Resi is looking at another £1m year in Edinburgh.
What keeps your client awake at night and what are you doing to support them with these concerns?
West Edinburgh is a slow market (history to why) and therefor I need to be more proactive finding different tenants (as seen with CEG) and be more proactive (track lease events and approach etc)
Main competition and how do you compete?
Jll, CBRE and cushmans. Global tenant rep teams are strong , hope to strengthen ours. We also develop connections with the rest of the UK such as life sciences down south. Proactive with lease events and working with bid team

We are a leading real estate firm with 17 divisions and we have a wide range of services and specialists

Knowing the market in Leith after meeting. Manager said I should know my competition. I ensured I did from there on

AML and technology
If you had unlimited resources and investment , what is the one hint you would change to your business area?
Hire more of the bid team (great resource but hard to get). More hosting clients and seeking new clients this way. Investing in technology so we can be more efficient (enquiry schedules and options schedules)
