What is it? How the child is and how they act a combination of characteristics and qualities that form of individual distinction character.
How does this affect language acquisition? Introverted or anxious learners usually make slower progress. They are less likely to take advantage of opportunities whereas more outgoing students will not worry about making mistakes and they were take more risks.

A

What is it? A child in a particular way they could be motivated or unmotivated.
How does this affect language acquisition? Students who enjoy language learning and take pride in their progress they will perform better compared to children who are unmotivated.

Cognition

A

What is it? The mental process of acquiring knowledge via a child’s experiences.
How does this affect language acquisition? Children with greater cognitive abilities will make the fast progress if they’re in their first language they have extensive vocabulary they may find it easier to learn English.

Bilingualism

A

What is it? The child already speaks two languages fluently.
How does this affect language acquisition? There is no evidence that it is harder or easier to learn English as a bilingualism. It could be harder as they may go and not be able to learn the multiple languages.
It could be easier as they already have the ability to learn the new language .

How does this affect language acquisition? There is some evidence that students in situations where their own culture has a lowest status than that of the culture in which they are learning e.g. women don’t get education.
